Bug? Mac Optimized Battery Charging

I was wondering if the "Optimized battery charging" has a bug. I am using a MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro, which is connected to the charger all the time (MagSafe). For a while the "Optimized battery charging" feature worked and the battery was charged to 80%. But since I updated to macOS 12.1 it would always charge to 100%. I tried by resetting the Power Management, turning the feature on/off and using it on battery a couple of days ago. All of this did not have any impact. It stubbornly charges to 100%.

I had a different experience; it worked well, then after a Big Sur update it mostly would charge to 100% and then since Monterey (including the 12.1 update) it is working exactly as advertised.
