MacBook background/screen glitches

Hi,

My MacBook recently started showing faint see-through backgrounds of programs I closed or minimized on my screen, like a glitch. I tried resetting my MacBook and updating it to the latest version of macOS, but this doesn't fix the problem. I added pictures to show what my background looks like when I close all the tabs. The screen shows a faint see-through of the tabs that were recently opened. If I restart the laptop, the background stays like this. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but most of the time it does. It is not a problem that bothers me while using the laptop. I just think it is weird and I want to try and fix it.

Hopefully it is clear like this, and I hope that somebody might know what the problem is and how to fix it.

It kind of looks like there is a screenshot of a previous screen still slightly visible in the background.

Julia_MacBook,

Thank you for trying those steps. Do you see this in any other user? You can create a new one to test. How about in Safe mode?

Check out the following resources:

If this continues, you may want to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Have a good one!

Hi,

Thank you for your reply! Yes that is right, when I am for example using safari, or Microsoft Word, and then close the tab. The screen that was opened will still be faintly visible in the background. Even when for example, I start watching Netflix, this faint image is visible through the video playing. Or when opening another safari tab, the other background is visible through it, freezed on the background.

I tried changing the background, but the problem remained. After this I tried resetting the NVRAM, but after a few minutes the background was already freezed again with the see through of the safari tab I opened.

But thanks anyway for your help!

Hi Julia_MacBook,

Thank you for posting Apple Support Communities! From our understanding, you are seeing a faint image of application on your Mac's screen, is that right? Does this happen with multiple wallpapers or just thus specific one?

You can test it using the steps here: Change the desktop picture (background) on your Mac.

If this continues, you can try resetting the NVRAM since that can help with display resolution: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac.

Hope that helps!
