Ios mail and gmail

Can’t add gmail to iPad or iPhone using new account Want to do this to be able to use aliases as sender. Setting it up using Google setting sends all emails with gmail account name. I follow guide and set up imap and smtp with names and password and it comes back with message that password is not entered for the overall account.

In common with many other Mail providers, Google Mail (Gmail) require use of App Specific Passwords to access IMAP or POP3 mailboxes from non-Google Mail client Apps

The Mail App on each of your devices, such as your iPad, requires a unique password to be generated from within your Google account. This App Specific password intentionally differs from your Google account password - and can only be used to access your Google mail.
