gmail on iPad or iPhone

How do I set up to send and receive gmail from new iPad or iPhone? Have the incoming/outgoing mail server settings from Apple as imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com

Assuming that you intend to use the native Mail App, you simply add your Gmail account in the same way as any other account via settings:

Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account


Be aware that Google Mail, in common with many email providers, now generally require you to configure an App-specific password to access your Gmail using iMap. The App-specific password will intentionally differ from your Google account Password.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page. For Gmail, you’ll find information here:
