Cannot create new note, MacBook Pro - Monterey 12.1

New note icon is greyed out. The only way I can create a new note is the hot corner "Quick Note" that was added in Monterey. I've tried unchecking notes in Apple ID, checking and unchecking iCloud notes, restarting, verifying default account for the in Notes preferences... 🤨 Any suggestions?

Eh Voilà! Suddenly I can create a new note! Perhaps creating a quick note unlocked some hidden block, but whatever it was, all is well for now. Perhaps the next update to Monterey will clear some of the early bugginess. Case closed.
