USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter not charging

I bought the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter in order to attach a USB mouse to a 12" MacBook (2017) while maintaining charging ability. The USB port works, but the charging doesn't. Is there a setting that needs to be set or is there a hardware incompatibility?

MacBook, macOS 10.13

Welcome Surfnrad,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you're using an USB-C Digital TV Multiport Adapter with your MacBook 2017. We'll do our best to assist.

To make sure we're on the same page here, when you use this adapter the Mac won't charge or another device connected won't charge? As explained in the resource you came from this adapter should allow you to also charge the Mac: About the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

Check out section, 'Charging your Mac or iPad Pro'.

Hoping to hear back, take care.

Hey Surfnrad,

That's good to know.

The adapter, is supported for this model of MacBook: MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017) - Technical Specifications

If you have another charging port, we'd confirm the issue doesn't also happen when connected to the other port.

You can also restart the Mac normally: Log out, sleep, restart, and shut down

Should it persist, then it might be best to connect with Apple Support: Get Support

They'll take it from here.

Wishing you well, take care.
