MacBook Air m1 keyboard does not work and trackpad get stuck after closing the lid and re-opening

Every time my M1 Macbook Air goes into sleep mode or when I close the lid and open back again, the keyboard and trackpad stop working - they freeze. But if I connect an external mouse and keyboard using USB they works properly but the native keyboard and trackpad does not. It's a brand new MacBook Air.- It's up to date with OS update currently running Mac OS Montgomery - As soon as I restart the laptop the issue goes away, but as soon as it goes to sleep the same issue again.

I tried to restart in safe mode but the issue is still showing up there also. Is there any way to fix this ? Else working has become very difficult I always have to use an external keyboard. Any help is much appreciated

Hello surasnayak,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are having an issue with the keyboard and trackpad on your MacBook Air, even after trying some good steps. First, try running First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing.

If you haven't already, run the built-in Apple Diagnostics to see if this will give more info about your situation:
