Headphone Accommodation settings reset each time I leave an app that plays audio

Ever since I updated my iPhone XR to IOS 15.2, whenever I go into an app that plays any type of audio, the Headphone Accommodation settings reset (like Custom Audio Setup) and I have to go back into Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Headphone Accommodations to set them back each time. I have to do this whenever I close the app the audio is coming from or when I pause the audio for a certain amount of time. This was not a problem before I updated to IOS 15.2 and was not fixed in IOS 15.2.1. Has anyone else experienced this problem/bug?

Hello, jbyrd823.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

To confirm, are you selecting the media apps when setting up the Headphone Accommodations as shown here: Customize headphone audio levels on your iPhone or iPad

"Set up Headphone Accommodations

  1. Check that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
  2. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Headphone Accommodations. Turn on Headphone Accommodations.
  3. Choose how you want to apply your custom audio settings:
    • Turn on Phone to apply these settings to phone calls, FaceTime calls, and any third-party video call apps.
    • Turn on Media to apply these settings to music, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, Siri, voicemail, and Live Listen."

Also, restart your iPhone. Sometimes a restart can help resolve issues.

Is this happening with Apple apps as well or just third party apps?

You mentioned closing the app, are you using these steps? Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

Keep us updated.

Cheers!
