driving focus will not turn on automatically

iPhone 11, iOS 15.2.1

I used to use DND while driving, worked fine. After upgrading to iOS 15 my phone will NOT turn on driving focus automatically based on motion. I have read numerous troubleshooting articles online, I feel certain I understand the settings. I’ve also deleted the driving focus and recreated. I can check the focus status in control center and it shows no active focus. I keep updating iOS 15 every time there’s an update available, hoping Apple will finally fix this. Has anyone faced this issue and found a work around? I know I can turn driving focus on manually. thanks

I have restarted a couple times, no change. Please note, I am not connecting to car. I want do not disturb while driving, automatically turned on when the phone is moving in car , based on “motion” or “location. THIS USED TO WORK perfectly. Now with iOS15 it’s a focus. I understand the new focus settings. Have double checked all focus settings. All other location settings, functions, maps, find friend etc work fine. It is a software glitch inside Apple code. Phone is 11, iOS is auto update.

From our understanding, you are having issues with Driving Focus after you updated your device. We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.


Since you've checked all your settings, try restarting your iPhone before connecting to your car again: Restart your iPhone


Also, do you connect to your car using CarPlay or Bluetooth?

I am also having this problem. Updated iPhone 12 and Driving focus set to turn on when I connect to my car Bluetooth. Stopped working and it's a huge pain! I have automations that need to run when Driving focus turns on and they don't run when it's turned on Manually 🙄

would love some answers. Forced restart worked one time and then it went back to not working. Since then force restart is no longer fixing the problem.
