In Keychain, why do the 'Comments' show up on a 'Passwords' entry?

In Keychain, under 'Passwords', how can I keep info in the 'Comments' section from showing up automatically?

This is where I can put Security Question answers, additional Passwords, etc., but they show up as soon as you click on that particular password name.

Can they not be hidden until you click on 'Show password', where you can then get the password for that particular item?

Thank you,

Kathy

  1. Security questions , additional password items will be saved in secured notes created in keychain access see the article Store confidential information securely using Keychain Access on Mac

View the contents of a Secure Note

  1. In the Keychain Access app on your Mac, select Secure Notes in the Category list.
  2. Double-click the note, then select the Show Note tickbox.
  3. You are asked for your keychain password if you haven’t selected “Allow all applications to access this item” in the Access Control pane.
  4. Type your login password to see the note, then click Allow or “Always allow”.
  5. If you want this note to be secure, don’t click “Always allow”.

security questions , and other passwords are not saved under passwords , if in keychain access under passwords , double click a mail address and click on access control , you can check mark before allowing access or ask for keychain password as required .

See the article View the information stored in a keychain on Mac - Apple Support

Are you viewing safari preferences > password s ? in that case admin password is required .

In Keychain, why do the 'Comments' show up on a 'Passwords' entry?
