Music 1.2.1.40 does not play through remote speakers

I updated the MacOS this evening to 12.1 Monterey, which I think included this version of Music.

Since loading the new version, sounds will not go through remote speakers; if remote speakers are attached, the play time does not advance.

The laptop internal speakers emit sound when they are the only output connected; if internal and remote speakers are both selected, then the play window does not advance.
