Speak Screen Pause

I use the Speak Screen feature to listen to books at work, and I was wondering if there was a way to pause it when I take my AirPods out. Sometimes if I’m at work and I take both of them out in order to hear someone else it will continue to read my screen out loud, and I may not always be right next to my phone to hurry and pause it. I know when I listen to music my AirPods will automatically pause if I take them out, but I was wondering if there was a way to have it work for Speak Screen as well. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We'd like to share some information with you.

We suggest using the Speech Controller to pause a content as needed. Removing one or both AirPods won't automatically pause this feature. To make sure you have the controller enabled, tap on Settings > Accessibility > Speech Controller.
