wide spaces on mac word

I have an issue with word, I am writing my bachelor work and the word is sometimes making a weirdly wide spaces in between the words. How can i fix the issue? I know in windows there is an option Don't expand character spaces on the line ending Shift-Return but i can not seem to find it on a mac. Can someone hep me please ?

Word and letter spacing I have a MacBook Pro 2018. Mojave 10.14.1. Every time I type an "I " it automatically creates what appears to be 3 spaces between it and the word that follows. Is there a way in Pages that I can correct the extra space between words without having to go over the entire document line for line and word for word and make the corrections manually? It is a fairly long document and doing it manually would be tedious and very time consuming. Any advice would be much appreciated. I am using a 2018 MacBook Air running 10.14.6 and Pages 10.1.

Try this...

Terminate the line by using the Enter key, rather than Shift+Enter.
