Connecting to WiFi, but no Internet

My Macbook Air was connecting to my friend's WiFi, but when I opened Safari it said it wasn't connected to the Internet. Three other people were on his WiFi, and my iPhone was logged in and connected to the Internet without issue. My Macbook has been on his WiFi and worked fine many times, but we can't figure out what was going wrong. Any suggestions?

Hi! Yes, I did try running through all the steps. It only happened on this one network. I did a wireless diagnostic and tried all the suggestions, including forgetting the network and logging on again, restarting my computer, restarting the WiFi, renewing the lease, but nothing seemed to work. I also tried connecting to my iPhone hotspot and that worked.

I'm completely at a loss since I've used his network many times without incident. It seemed specific to just to my Macbook this one time.
