Can a singular iPad support multiple users with an Apple Fitness+ Family subscription

Apple Fitness+ Family subscription, everyone has an apple watch and iphone...

if I get an iPad for the home gym can everyone use their respective accounts on that ipad?

Or, will each person require an iPad? If the later is true; is the update coming to allow multiple users on iPads at least for those utilizing family plan subscriptions? In a household with 3 macbooks, multiple iPhones, apple watches, and a family apple one subscription - the last thing I want is individual iPads. Especially, for a singular use in our home gym using apple fitness+.

I realize I could do this with a TV/monitor and an apple tv device, but in a 100 year old house with plaster walls in perfect shape; the last thing I want to do is hang a tv on them. I like our clean aesthetics the charm of our old home and cluttering it with short lived electronics is wasteful to my finances and to the world (materials and then landfill) when one device would should simple do the job.

Unlike other computers with which you may be familiar, that support multiple user profiles - other than “managed” educational environments, OS/iPadOS devices are not intended to be shared. iPhone and iPad in domestic settings are intended to be single-user.

Be aware that if you sign-out of iCloud and other Apple services - and allow another user to sign-in - you may in many circumstances be unable to change back for 90-days. Unless you fully understand and accept the implications, you would be well advised to reconsider sharing an iPad between users.

Whilst acknowledging that multiple User profiles are supported in managed Educational environments, contributors here have no insight into Apple’s future intentions of extending this functionality to other usage settings. The Terms of Use that govern participation within the Apple Support Communities disallows speculation.

As you all have an individual iPhones, whilst addition of multiple iPads to you device inventory remains an option, you perhaps already have access to the most appropriate solution for your needs.

If you intend to use the iPad for the purpose that you describe, there is nothing stopping you from using a single iPad. If, however, you intend to have personal data on the iPad that you wish to segregate from the data of other users, then neither iPhone nor iPad are suitable.

Your issue is perhaps due to misunderstanding of the iOS/iPadOS system/security architecture. The underlying file-system architecture is not designed to provide separation of user profiles. To cite a useful data-hygiene analogy - whilst there is nothing to prevent you from sharing a toothbrush between members of your family, you’d probably choose to avoid doing so.

Of course, yet I want my floor space open for exercise. The real point is the iPad should support multiple users - especially for those using their family subscriptions. Having a family of 6 or even 4 each with an individual iPad is simply greed. Yes we can afford it financially - I just find it wasteful. Especially since Apple touts how iPads are “powerful” and “capable”.

At this point, it seems there is not a solution until Apple finds it in their interest (rather than the consumers’) to provide this feature which is standard for other similar devices. My main gripe is at this point is Apple advertises how cohesive and flexible their products are but then places restrictions that only serve financial purposes. I have plenty of Apple ____ (stuff). I don’t need nor want multiple devices when one would simply suffice.

You have a hole in your logic. Explain why MacBooks and Apple TV’s which provide isolated multiuser environments Even an Apple Watch can link to a single iPhone within a family unit.

I understand security and the system quite well and can distinguish it from the counter argument that clearly is influenced by the over consumption of “kool-aid”.

It’s not “my” logic at all.

All that I (and other Contributors) can offer is an explanation as to what you can do with the available tools - and what you can’t. Debate as to the relative merits of what is possible, versus what isn’t, is a pointless exercise.
