Drive Maps on Monterey

I have a MacBookPro 2013, with 2 external drives attached. I have a MacMini 2018 (Core i7/32GB) - and am trying to connect to the drives attached to the 2013 MBP. I am able to connect to the primary shared folder on the remote machine, but when I try to map the drives 1 of 2 errors: "operation can't be completed because the original item for "{Insert Drive Name}" can't be found." or "you don't have permission to access ..." The shared drive shows up in the finder window - it appears in the list of available resources (when using cmd+k).

I've restarted both machines, to no avail. I pretty sure the permissions are set up correctly, though it appears they are not.

You need to go into System Preferences->Sharing. Then check "File Sharing". In left side, "Shared Folders:", use the plus button to add what you want to share. Then on the right, if desired, add what ever users you wish to add.

Under the "File Sharing: On" indication, note the smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx address. Then on the computer you want to connect to the share, in the Finder Menu "Go", select "Connect to server..." You'll be promoted for a user name and password.
