HP P1005 laserjet printer

A macOS 12 driver from HP is listed here:

It has an Oct 27, 2021 release date. I am not convinced that it will work with macOS 12.1.

Also, for the Apple download at https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

it says Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer. Otherwise, an HP LaserJet P1005 1.6.1 driver is mentioned in the no longer updated article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support.

There is an HP Easy Admin tool for Mac that allows administrators to download drivers without a connected printer. I do not know whether this would change anything, though.

Make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) if you decide to carry out any experiments.

Interesting. This is the Download button address found under the above https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US , so the System Requirements information on that web page (HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update) does not appear to be correct. Thank you for your report.

hello jan, yes the driver is not officially designed for the firmware, but can be installed under mac os monteray and then provides the basic drivers to use the HP P1005 printer.
