By "Connect" what are you attempting to achieve by connecting them? If you want to simply move files between the two computers then yes, please refer to Set up file sharing on Mac - Apple Support

However if you mean, can you use the display of your 2009 iMac as an external display with your new iMac then the answer is no you cannot do that. Please refer to Target Display Mode
