Apple Music Sound Quality

When I play music through the computer it sounds ok but when I listen through headphones it sounds like it is being played through cloth, it is distorted and sounds far away. I have switched the settings in sound preferences to make sure that it plays through the headphones but doesn't sound any better. Is there any way to get crisp audio?

Hello FrozoSpeed,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that your Mac sound quality isn’t as expected. We are happy to help.

Does this only happen using the Music app? If not, which app(s) does this occur?

Please try the steps here: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

We also recommend changing the sound output settings using the steps here: Change the sound output settings on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
