Contacts list on Mac (Big Sur )
I have to struggle to add a contact to my directory / list.
Is there an upper limit to the number of contacts the directory / list will accept?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are having issues while trying to add a contact and want to see if it is due to a limit.
There is a limit to iCloud Contact cards which is 50,000. Check out Limits for iCloud Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Bookmarks, and Maps. Knowing that, does this appear to be the issue for you? If not, what happens when you try to add a contact?
