Iphone 12 Pro Max 5G

Hello

I bought this phone in Chile, and they told me is was compatible with 5G net. Right now in my country this service is working but my celphone does not give the chance to connect to it. Why does this happens if the manufacturer tells me that my cel is conpatible with this net, even the box that covers the devise says that it supports 5G Technologies.

When will my devise soppot 5G in Chile if the service has already benn released?

I feel cheated!!

I would like to have a serious answer.

Thanks

Marcelo.

Contact your cellular service provider in Chile. The iPhone 12 is compatible with 5G. Wether it will connect to it, will depend on wether you are in an area that already has 5G coverage, its good and strong enough to overshadow 4G and your provider supports it.

Also note, some providers require you to get a 5G compatible sim card for your device to access their 5G service.

Again, contact your service provider to inquire about 5G service support from them.

5G service requires a SIM that supports 5G. If you took the SIM from an older phone and put it in your new one, it probably won't get 5G service, even if it is compatible with your carrier's 5G network.

Apple does not have to give "permission" for the device to use 5G.

As of right now, there are no supported 5G carriers in Chile at all. (see this list) https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204041

That means your carrier has not enabled a 5G network or has not updated their carrier settings to enable the 5G option. It's entirely up to your carrier to enable that option with a carrier update. Apple does not in any way disable such options.

I talked to my celular servise provider and they told me it has to do with Apple not them.

Your carrier is wrong. It has everything to do with them. Apple does not need to release anything.

I was told that It also does not require an special sim card.

This is very much carrier dependent. Some don't require it, others do. If your carrier does not require an updated SIM card, then that's fine.

5G coverage in Chile still appears very spotty. With Movistar having the best coverage. Are you in an area where 5G is available form your carrier? See the link:

Ok. Entel and Movistar (2 providers) are already giving the 5G service. They say it has nothing to do with them, and that there is no need for a special sim card. Same thing says the store where i boght the device. The service is opened, and many of my friends who have Samsung devices are using it. The information you have about the providers is not updated. (find out)

Well, I give up. I realy feel cheated by Apple, because you are supposed to have the latest technology. The divice is very, but very expensive and does not fulfill the promise of supporting 5G, like the packing box and the store say.

I request compensation.
