Ipad Pro Smart Keyboard folio, peeling after 15 months

The corner of my Smart keyboard folio is starting to peel away after only 15 months of use. For £180 I had hoped for better quality.

I'm presuming it's hopeless me taking this up with Apple, given it's outside the 1 year warranty period, but part of me feels this is a substandard quality issue, and worth pursuing. Curious if anybody has experience of this problem, and Apple's reaction to it?

At the very least, posting here for those considering purchasing this product. It's great in many ways but this type of rapid wear is disappointing.

I presume from your description that your are in the UK. While your Apple one year limited warranty may have expired, you do have broader statutory consumer rights that you might explore.

If your folio keyboard was purchased while the UK was a member state of the EU, you should have an automatic two year warranty against which your might make claim against the retailer from whom the item was purchased.

Under Consumer Regulations, you also have benefit of your six year statutory rights - where an item must be of merchantable quality and be fit for purpose. These rights can be more difficult to apply, as the burden of proof lies with you to prove that the defect existed when purchased. I’ll leave you to research your rights in this respect. The CAB is a perhaps a good source of help and information in this regard.

Either way, a constructive conversation at your local Apple Store - along with a healthy and polite approach to this interaction - may be helpful. Until you ask, you’ll never know. If unfruitful, perhaps then is the appropriate time to extend conversation into your statutory rights and warranty conditions that actually apply in your situation.
