usb-c hub recommendation
I have a MacBook Air (2020, M1). I need to connect 8 USB A devices and a HDMI monitor. Anyone have a suggestion for a USB-C hub or dock with a lot of USB-A ports and an hdmi port?
thanks.

There are several different ways of accomplishing this, however it will almost definitely require two devices.
First you need to get power to the MacBook Air. That can come via a powered hub or one that provides power pass through from the power adapter. None of these have that many USB connections.
A solution I initially took in a similar situation:
A USB-C hub with power pass through (Belkin Multimedia USB-C hub to be exact). Besides the ports, I wanted ethernet.
Connected a multiport USB Hub to it (7 Port USB 3.0 HUB + 2 Charging Ports with 12V/4A Power Adapter (HB-U930) to be exact). This, since it was self powered, could supply all the power I ever needed to any connected devices.
Then I purchased a certified USB-C to HDMI cable to connect to the the display. The display was a 4K display and many of the USB-C hubs only supported 4K at 30 Hz instead of 60Hz.
There are a wide variety of ways to accomplish what you want. I just gave you what I did as an example.

I recommend something from Satechi. Have a look through their website.
