thunderbird migration issues

So I barely understand computers so make your answers as simple as possible, like you are giving instructions to your young child. This Old dog doesn't learn new tricks easily. I have an old 2018 mac mini that I am trying to migrate the Thunderbird Proflies Folder to the new 2021 Mac Mini M1. I have read and watched everyone's description on how to transfer the files over to the new computer and have tried to do it for over 4 hours to no avail: I went to the old mini's Library file for Thunderbird, copied the profiles folder and saved it on the desktop of the new computer. I then downloaded the new thunderbird program, and before I opened it I went to the Library folder on the new computer and deleted the existing profiles folder and pasted the old profiles folder into it. I then tried to start the Thunderbird program and the following error shows up" Profile Missing: Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inacceasible". I have spent literally hours on trying to make this happen... is there some sort of extension or add on for Thunderbird that will simplify this process?? I migrated my Brave Browser bookmarks and it took 2 seconds. Why is this so slow?

I am sorry you are having so may problems with this, but I will offer some thoughts. First, if you used Migration Assistant to do your transfer from the old computer to the new one, everything could have been transferred and duplicated in the new computer except for the operating system. I would re-check the instructions and see where you may have deviated and caused everything not to transfer. Second, when using Migration Assistant, only connect the two computers with a USB cable. Wi-Fi typically will fail. If you have already installed Thunderbird in the new computer and are trying to manually transfer your files, then the best thing to do is to go to the Thunderbird help site directly. They have a lot of good information there. The internal workings of Thunderbird are somewhat more complex than other mail apps because it has more features than the others do. Some things must be done in a certain way or they won't work. Their help volunteers there are quite helpful and know their product very well. I have worked with them in the past, so I speak from experience. I am sure that they will be able to direct you what to do in a step-by-step manor.
