To more things to test: Have you been exporting the adjusted versions or the unmodified originals?
I am asking this, because Photos 7 on Monterey may no longer be able to handle some media files, that you imported a long time ago using a different system version.
Try, if you can export at least with "File > Export > Export unmodified original" for a single file. This will check, if the original can be accessed at all.
And also check, if the destination you selected as the destination can be written to.
Sometimes it will work better, if you export to a local folder in your user home folder, for example the Pictures folder, instead of trying to write directly to an external volume.

Hi
Thanks for your answer. It's happening to all my photos whether I use file exporter not and whether they are edited or not. There is no option to choose the destination, but I usually put them onto the desktop.
The prompt where to save the photos should appear after the File > Export > Export unmodified original. If you are using iCloud Photos and your desktop is syncing with iCloud, do not save the photos to the Desktop but to the Pictures folder. Did you test with a single photo?
And I take it, you did already shut down the computer and restarted it?
Thanks for your reply. I can't open for editing. I have had that circled box checked and use file>export. They're stored in my icloud. I had optimize storage unchecked and have checked it, will try re-loading. It seems to be all of them. Yes I've restarted.
What happens when you click export:
What is file exporter? Is that an app?
Thanks but no i can choose export iptc as XMP, file name and sub folder format, no destination
After you have selected those items, you click export, and then a file picker comes up where you can choose the folder to put the exported file(s)
Mine is not offering me that option
Yes that’s it
Actually it’s fixed now thank you. Not sure which thing solved it may be optimise storage.
