Eliminate lyric sync

How do I stop iTunes from syncing lyrics when I transfer songs to my IPad/iPhone. I do not use Apple Music, this is an iTunes issue.

If tracks have embedded lyrics I don't think there is an option for them to be excluded during syncing.
