I can't import iPhone video to PC

I've seen this asked countless times. I've tried all the suggestions, I downloaded several third party softwares, I tried converting to MP4 from HEVC. None of this works. Especially the generic responses with basic steps that do not work. Has the ability to download video I took from the iPhone to my PC no longer a function? It seriously makes my iPhone useless and this is not a new problem. So, will Apple be resolving this issue? My last iPhone had no problems transferring even the really big videos. That iPhone was from 2015. Is it the HEVC creating this nightmare?

Can Apple give honest answers instead of the run around?

iPhone SE

Your last iPhone may not have been using HEVC for video recordings if it gave you no problems.

Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and see if your iPhone is set to High Efficiency or Most Compatible. The latter would probably suit you better. This is the H.264 format not HEVC.

What's your current version of iOS?

I've been able to copy over video directly from the Camera Roll. It just requires that the PC be trusted and connected. You'll need to find where it's located in the DCIM directory, as the current way it works is that it's in subdirectories for each calendar day. I've been able to drag photo and video files to a directory in Windows using Windows Explorer. My iPhone just comes up as "iPhone", although I suppose it could be possible to change the name that the PC sees to something like "Smith's iPhone SE".
