mail on iPad disabling side bar to view message

Got a new iPad last year and can't figure out how to view the message in mail full screen. the sidebar for mail is always there. on MacBook Pro I can get rid of it by collapsing it with my mouse.

Mail feature missing After reading an email, the default should be to move to next UNREAD email. Mail does not do this. How can I reverse the direction of movement in my Inbox ? I have to continuously move my cursor from a read email to an UNREAD email. That wastes time.

When I click on any mail subjects a box opens up on the right side of the mail and can’t be deleted. I don’t want t0 get the mail info in that box. How can I get ride of the box that opens up in the mail? It’s open on the right side of the mai with the info in there. I want the info in the mail, not in the separate box. Can’t close it out either.

You don’t. On a Mac, you can double click the email to view it in it’s own window etc. iPadOS is not the same.
