Warranty claim for a new iPhone
My Indian friend has bought a new iPhone from US through his friend. But the phone has some scratches while it is received in India. Through international warranty, can he claim a new display?

Not likely. There is NO International Warranty on iPhone. Apple my limit warranty service to the country of purchase and it's often reported here that Service Providers in India will not service a phone bought in the US. Plus if the phone has been activated, meaning it's now being used, scratches are not covered by warranty anywhere anyway as that is cosmetic. Tell your friend to install a good quality screen protector and call it a day.

Not really. Also, scratches are considered cosmetic issues that aren't covered by warranty. Besides that, the warranty is generally not going to be international - primarily because of the issue of cellular modems being regulated, and how many Apple fixes are complete replacements where they will only replaced with a functionally identical unit with a special replacement device model number.
Here are the current US warranty terms, but these parts wouldn't have changed much in years.

This Warranty does not apply: (a) to consumable parts, such as batteries or protective coatings that are designed to diminish over time, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship;
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV and HOMEPOD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
Other than that, the screen assembly is considered a universal part (like batteries) that should be identical across the same iPhones models sold in different countries. You might be able to request a screen assembly replacement, but if there's a problem with the work there could be a problem. Occasionally a repair attempt might damage the device and they try to make it good by repairing the damage or replacing the entire device. If they can't access an equivalent replacement, then that could be a problem. However, I'd suggest asking an Apple Authorized Service Provider if they can replace the screen assembly for their fee, if your friend is willing to pay that.
No.
