Do I need to physically move the sim card?

In changing to a new phone, there are steps to activate and to transfer apps, etc. Do I also need to physically move the sim card? (iPhone 5 to XR)

iPhone XR

Yes. The SIM installed in your iPhone 5 has the active cellular service from your cellular service provider. If you plan to use the same cellular service and phone number, then you should move the SIM card from your iPhone 5 to your iPhone XR. This action will move and provide active cellular data/voice service to your iPhone XR.
