My Macbook Air camera does not work with Safari!

Here is the situation, when I open Safari to use the camera for a Facebook video chat I get the message from Safari that "The camera is not supported by your current browser". I was surprised—Apple cam not working with Apple browser. The camera works with Quicktime and Photo Booth, just not Safari. I did check the Safari settings, camera is listed as "Allow".


Can anyone advise me on this camera problem? tia.

2017 MBA, 12.0.1.
