CarPlay Crash

I have an iPhone X with iOS 15.2.1 recently installed. Before installing this latest update, CarPlay wouldn't start about once a month (I have a 2018 Ford Escort). I would have to shut off the vehicle and start the vehicle up again and things would normally be fine. Now, after this iOS 15.2.1 update it crashed and CarPlay won't start at all. It seems that Apple fixed problems for the people who have the iPhone 13, but something has happened with my iPhone X. I've tried the usual rebooting, etc. to no avail. Right now I'm playing the iPhone content through Ford Sync, which is working fine, but I cannot access Apple Maps for navigating. I'm eagerly looking forward to iOS 15.2.2!

Thank you,

wgs

Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer.

Thank you for your response. It seems that the firmware update on the car was needed. Although Ford says the update takes 30-35 minutes, mine went for almost an hour without succeeding. I unplugged the USB and shut off the car. The next day it said the update was a failure. Oddly, on the third day, it said "updating system" and this was without my doing anything further. Half an hour later it said "update complete." Everything has been working fine since then!

Thanks,
