FIRMWARE UPDATE FOR MONTEREY?

I have been told a firmware update is needed to install Monterey. When attempting to install Monterey, I get this error alert: "required firmware update could not be installed. Compatible internal storage is required in order to update".

My Mac:  MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Apparently the firmware update must installed PRIOR to installing Monterey.

Disk Utility would indicate that the Appler disk has been replaced with an Intel disk.

for how to replace go to iFixit for your model Mac. It may not be easy but depends upon the model Mac.

Find an Apple disk is harder. Try eBay or a general web search.

No, you need an internal Apple SSD installed to update the Mac's firmware as part of the Monterey upgrade.

If no Apple SSD you your error ro sometimes other errors too.

What macOS version do you have now?

Some Macs had other firmware updates on when some upgrades were were performed. One user had to go back to an earlier upgrade to get that firmware update completed before the Monterey firmware update/Monterey upgrade could be completed.
