Unable to update watch software - Iwatch

I own a series 2 watch which has not had a software update in some time, I have recently reset the watch but when I try and pair with my phone it then prompts me that there is a software update for the watch which needs doing before I can complete setup. When I press update after a few seconds it then suddenly says the watch software is up to date. From this screen there is then no way to proceed with completing the set up process. My watch is not unusable as I cannot complete the setup process


please help

Hey Tangerines500,


It sounds like you have a concern with pairing the Apple Watch because it requests an update.


Make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are toggled on for the iPhone by going to Settings > Bluetooth and Settings > Wi-Fi. Then try restarting the iPhone and Apple Watch.

Also, make sure that the iPhone is updated to the latest iOS: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Thanks for clarifying further. When it says the Apple Watch is up-to-date after it attempts to update, is it frozen on that message? Are you able to access the Apple Watch again even after force restarting (the bottom steps in the link)?Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support.


You mentioned that it is paired, have you tried unpairing and pairing again? Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Yes I am unable to go any further with the set up when it says that the watch is up to date. See the below images. I have uploaded in the order of how I try and update the watch and as you can see by the last 2 images it will not let me go any further once it tells me that the watch is up to date. All I can do it press cancel which then unpairs and cancels the whole process

but the issue is not pairing as the phone and watch do In fact pair but then once paired the phone advises me that the watch needs a software update. Once you press to proceed to do the update after a few seconds the phone then says that the watch software is up to date? At that point it does not let me proceed with the setup. I cannot get beyond this point so the watch is unable to set up and be used
