‘Request timed out’ or ‘Resource unavailable’ for Apple Music

Since the iOS 15/15.01 update Apple Music won’t play on mobile data any more. This is absolutely infuriating, it’s fine for WiFi but as soon as I’m off WiFi Music completely packs up.

Yes, mobile data is definitely on. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the app. I’ve turned off Dolby atoms and lossless audio. Restarting my phone. It’s only Apple Music that’s affected, and only on mobile data. It seems like others have had this issue. Is there a fix for this yet?

Hi Sherazon,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to play Apple Music over a cellular data connection, and we'd like to assist. Do you have a VPN app installed on your device? If so, try temporarily disabling or uninstalling it to see if the issue persists. You can also try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind, this also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before. You can also try updating to iOS 15.3 to see if the issue persists.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.
