How to reregister an iPad to a different user?

I bought an iPad as a gift for my wife. I registered it under my apple ID. She now wants to register it under her own ID. Is there a way to do this without losing all the data?

Please follow all of these instructions - she will be able to set it up with her own Apple ID. It needs to be completely erased to work.. You also need to disassociate the device from your Apple ID
