New iPhone 12 slow and laggy

I got an iPhone 12 a couple of weeks ago and it is my first iPhone after using android phones. From the first moment I had a feeling that it is slower than my old android and it often lags when using some apps, especially photos. The transitions when swiping photos left or right are not smooth, but somehow "glitchy". At first I thought that's how things are with iPhone, but then I consulted a friend who uses iPhone for years and we compared with his 13 and he told me that my device has a problem. I created a backup and reset the phone, erased all photos and even tried with an empty device, without transferring backup data, and it still felt like a slow-motion. Any ideas? The device is brand new, with 1 year warranty.

Hi there stevicat,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We want your iPhone 12 to work great for you and would like to help with this issue. We want to gather some additional details first.

When you purchased this iPhone, was it new, refurbished, or used?

Which iOS version do you currently have installed? Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see. If you see an update available, go ahead and install it.

How much available storage does your iPhone have? Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

Let's take a look at the battery health, just in case. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Take note of what shows for the Maximum Capacity and if there any messages are indicating a battery issue.

You advised you also restored the iPhone to factory settings (like new) without restoring any previous data on it, yet it still felt slow. What actions specifically felt slow at that time? Was it swiping between apps or the Home Screens?

Finally, look at our helpful guide linked below for additional tips on this issue:

We look forward to working on this with you. Take care.

Thanks for the additional information stevicat.

Since you've taken your device in to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and they laid out a repair plan, we would recommend following through with them. We would support any determination they've made, particularly since they have physically inspected the device and diagnosed it.

Hello Soosie_J215, thank you for you answer and sorry for late reply.

The iPhone was purchased as new on 31.12.2021. It runs IOS 15.3 (upgraded yesterday). It is 256GB version , with 220+GB available storage. Battery health is 100%.

This morning (about 3 hours ago) I took the device to the authorized service center here in Belgrade, Serbia (Europe) and it was diagnosed as "Slow and unresponsive". They attempted to fix the issue by software reset with no improvement. Now they sent me an email proposing the following solution: "replacement of the phone housing and all internal parts". They are asking me to agree with this solution.

Now, this is a 3 weeks old device, which has malfunctioned out of the box. Personally I think that they should replace it with the new device, or if they can not provide iPhone 12, then replace it with iPhone 13. I would appreciate your advice on this.
