Music widget stuck on deleted playlist

My Apple Music widget was working just fine last week and then it stopped on a playlist that I haven’t played in a month. The only recent activity involving that list was me adding a new song to it.

I updated my iOS, I did the whole sign out and reset thing and for that first reset the widget was working again. Until I decided to delete the playlist cause I didn’t want to take a chance with it.

I repeated the reset process again, but now the playlist is stuck on the widget even though it’s still deleted. If I click on the widget it still loads that playlist and even gives me the option to add it to my library.

I’ve even tried deleting the music app entirely but when I do the app isn’t completely deleted. My system seems to be treating it like I’m offloading it when I’m not.

What else can I try or do?

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Horseface-Lee!

From our understanding, your music widget is not working as expected. We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

Just to confirm, if you go into the Music app and start playing a different playlist, does the widget change?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, thank you for your response.

If and when I play anything else in my music library the widget shows what is currently playing. It changes back to the deleted playlist when I stop playing anything or close out the app. This issue has now spread to my itunes library as well. The playlist itself should not exist but it still does for some reason. Like it will load as a legit playlist if I click on it. And now when I play anything it gets cataloged in my "recently played" behind/after the deleted playlist. So my activity is being recorded as it should be, but that deleted playlist seems to be frozen in place and forcing any new activity to list behind it. It's extremely frustrating and I'm desperately trying to avoid having to reset my entire music library :(

The playlist shows up on all devices within my icloud library history. The only way to delete it again would be to add it back to my library, which I have done already and still no change. The list gets deleted from my library but it looks like it doesn't get completely removed or deleted from the Apple Music itself even though it should since I'm the one who created it. At this point I'm too frustrated and ready to reset my entire library in hopes that it'll somehow reset my library's cache and history. Starting from scratch seems to be my only option left. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to do that because the reset option no longer exists in itunes. I tried a different method just now and it didn't do anything because the list is still there. I'm currently signed out of all my devices and attempting to do this through itunes alone, but if there is another method I can try please let me know.

Thank you

Unfortunately, I contacted support yesterday and the solution provided didn’t fix anything but before I could confirm that my session was ended. At this point it’s not even the widget that’s my issue anymore, now it’s basically my entire profile and iCloud library that aren’t refreshing or registering the commands - deleting a playlist, adding new songs, adding a photo to a playlist, etc.

I either need Apple themselves to clear/delete my profile and library completely so I can start over or I need to cancel all of my subscriptions and be done with it :(

Is there no way to do this myself?
