iOS updates 15.2.1 and 15.3 --- Face ID Truedepth Camera issues / Apple Pay payment 100% declined
I'm sure I'm not the only one ...
I had gone down to the Apple flagship store when the Face ID failed all of a sudden after having updated my iPhone 11 Pro updated to iOS 15.2.1 (for 2 days). Prior to the visit, I had followed all the suggestions in and out of this forum, unfortunately, nothing works to reinstate the Face ID to full functionality. I wiped the phone in DFU mode, restored it via itunes and it was still the same.
At the store, the staff got me hooked up to the store wifi and ran their in-house diagnostic tool, no surprise here, No Fault Found.
After preaching to me countless times that my device is severely out of warranty and that i understand i may be subjected to additional charges (like how US court judges asking defendants that they are aware they are being charged with murder and will be sentenced to death if found guilty by the jury), they took my phone away and after some close-door consultation while I was waiting a the serving area (and listening to the poor guy sitting opposite me having his "judge" delivering his sentence of 900 dollars repair fee for his iPad pro... OUCH!), they told me to try to setup Face ID again.
I did, and it worked! I was happy and jumpy and kept trying the Face ID while walking down the street. Got home evening time and the **** Face ID stopped working again. In addition, my Apple Pay got wrecked with the infamous "your payment has been declined", however, you can still use it to pay for stuff, not in-app purchases or extending subscriptions.
Face ID is still a wreck (together with Apple Pay) after updating to iOS 15.3. Rebooted the phone (Up volume rocker, bottom volume rocker and hold Right side button until kingdom come) and tried to set up Face ID again, still no miracles happening.
I AM 100% SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY VICTIM OF THESE ISSUES POST IOS UPDATES. I just can't believe that with the numerous complains from 15.2.1 and Apple didn't address this issue in 15.3.
Other than getting a new phone, any suggestions on what to do???? I am very sure the Truedepth camera became faulty after updating the iOS ... TWICE. With the FACE ID disabled, this is causing me quite a problem with banking apps, instead of using biometrics, i have to manually punch in my super long and hacker-proof password each time.
iOS updates are supposed to bring about improvements, not destruction.
