Setting iCloud files to online-only

I'm looking for the iCloud equivalent of setting files & folders to online-only in the way that you can with MS OneDrive and Dropbox (see screengrab at the bottom)

When I right-click on files / folders, I see no option that relates to freeing up space and storing them online.

I can however, see a grey cloud icon next to (most of) them.

When right-clicking on one folder in particular, it appears to be taking up around 10GB of space. But I'm looking to free this up.

Is this possible in iCloud? or is it more of a OneDrive / Dropbox thing?

Hello mattpuol,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We see that you'd like to keep iCloud files online only in order to save space. This option is currently unavailable as iCloud is used to access content across devices. Take a look at the following resources for more information on iCloud Drive and steps to make more space:

Access and manage your files in iCloud Drive

Manage your iCloud storage

Have a nice day!
