2nd monitor keeps getting dropped The Detect Displays button is nothing more than a Sisyphean frustration.

The Detect Displays button is nothing more than a Sisyphean frustration. It does absolutely ZERO.

My iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 running Big Sur version 11.6) continually drops my 27 inch LG external monitor (LG 27MK600M-B) with a USB 3 to HDMI cable connection. There's no method to the madness either. It's not like every day at 9:30 or 12:30... Completely random. Some days it works most of the day, other days - off every half hour. LG says there is no firmware update, so it's all on Apple.

Is there a work-around, maybe in terminal, to force recognition?

iMac, OS X 10.11
