Bluetooth Interference from Mouse Effecting Microphone
Objects:
MX Master Mouse 3 for Mac (Bluetooth). M720 Triathalon Mouse (both are from Logitech)
AirPods Max, Airpods Pro, and Beats Studio (all Bluetooth)
MacBook Pro 16" (Intel I9 9980HK, 32GB RAM, 2TB storage, 5600M)
Situation: I noticed that whenever my MX Master 3 mouse is on, my mic (outgoing) audio from my AirPods Max or Pro is horrendous. I've been described as sounding like Megatron.
I've done some testing, and found that there is no issue when I use my Studios.
I also found out the Triathalon mouse has Bluetooth (I'd been using the unifying receiver for forever, and never had an issue), and found the audio issues still happen, but intermittently. The issues with my MX Master Mouse are persistent and do not stop unless I turn off or disconnect the mouse. There are no audio issues with any headphones if I have the mouse on and connected to my laptop, and the headphones are connected to my phone.
I have reset the PRAM, tried safe mode, a test account, and reinstalled MacOS. I've also used sudo pkill bluetoothd in Terminal, and also deleted Bluetooth preference.
There are also no issues with mic audio if I am using a wired connection or the built-in microphone on my MacBook Pro.
I hope I've been able to describe accurately all the different "tests" I've done, and that it is clear.
I am assuming it is one of three issues:
- There is interference from the Bluetooth mice that seems to interfere with the Airpod(s) Bluetooth connection (don't know why this doesn't occur with my Beats)
- There is a hardware issue with my computer's Bluetooth module
- There is an issue with macOS
But I don't know! I am a Biology major, not a computer scientist or engineer! Any advice for me? Is there anything else you think I should try?
Logitech said they will replace the mouse for me (but sadly it'll take 3 weeks for them to ship it to me).
