Cannot add google accounts to Apple's Internet Accounts.

I have struggled with adding a new Gmail to the mail/internet account for a few months now. Very frustrating. And I've tried every suggestion on the internet, so many similar questions, and no solution that can really help solve this issue. All the deleting, re-adding, restarting doesn't do a **** thing. Some even suggested leaving it for some time and trying again. Like you have to keep trying from time to time. Which I also did. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY! So ridiculous. Now I have to visit the genius bar for this absurd issue. Everything else with my MacbookPro and the new MacbookAir (I purchased two months ago) is fine. But both share the same problem with adding a Gmail account. It sucks when I also need to link my calendars. What happened to the great UX Apple used to deliver? I guess Apple deliberately neglects this issue. I understand that the two companies are rivals, but it's just irritating and demolishing Apple's brand image to have this issue unsolved for so many years. Apple used to be a customer before profit. Now it's too obvious that the entire corporate culture has shifted to profit before ANYTHING. Sigh. Such a DISAPPOINTMENT.

After spending an hour with an Apple's specialist trying out pretty much "everything," I have finally solved the issue... Putting it here so that people who are frustrated with adding Gmail accounts can try this last resort if they have been through everything else.

Specialist asked me to try this first:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204187

After setting up a test user account (adding Gmail worked), thus, we have identified that the problem is "User Specific."

Then we went on "booting the Mac in safe mode, which will run a few checks on the Mac and prevent certain software from loading during startup.": https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Once in safe mode, I signed into the main user account and tried completing the steps for my Gmail account, and it worked.

Restarted the Mac normally to exit safe mode and sign back into my main user account.

Even though the specialist did not end up telling me why and how this issue occurred in the first place, I am satisfied with the results. At least my life can go back to normal now.

Thank you, Apple, for keeping me up until 3 am (2:51am).

Hope this issue will never happen again, and good luck to people who are also experiencing this frustration.
