How to restore the dates of Birthday in my calendar

How do I restore my birthday dates in the calendar. It was eliminated with the upgrade

Removing birthdays from calendar I have birthdays in my calendar though the cards of the individuals concerned have been deleted. In addition for cards still in my contacts list I cannot edit the birthdays; though I entered them. Finally my birthday appeared in my calendar though I never entered it and I cannot delete it. This is incredibly weird.

Consequently, I do not have any birthday in my calendar. Opening Calendar on my Macbook, I have the birthday calendar in the "other" section. I can check/uncheck the box.
