Macbook Pro M1 Wired Keyboard

I just got a new 14 inch M1 Macbook Pro and my wired keyboard model A1243 will not work nor power its dual usb ports. I tried restarting on safe mode and checking hardware controllers and everything seems fine. Im aware that the M1's dont need a SMC reset and therefore don't know what else to do. To my surprise, I connected an older keyboard I had lying around model A1048 (via usb-c hub) and it works perfectly! it even powers its USB inputs. I really cant work without a number pad but this keyboard is really clunky. Whats the problem here? why isnt the modern usb keyboard being detected?

The white plastic ‘mechanical’ keyboard was released in 2003 and the other AL was released ~2007… if I recall correctly, there is a firmware available for that keyboard… actually, there is a version 1.1 and a version 2.0... Do a search on Google for it… I have both of those keyboards and they do work with the M1 flawlessly…

Good question

correct to No SMC or NVRAM on the M1 SoC.

The best you can do if you have an issue— equivalent Shut down, close the lid 30 secs+ , reboot as normal.

If no resolve try SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 to sort anomalies.
