Deleted all desktop files. Can I recover them?

Hi. I started learning programming. Today was my second class. I downloaded eclipse to learn Java. I opened a Java project in my Desktop. It asked for an access to my documents. I agreed. It opened a project in Eclipse with so many files from my desktop. So I deleted the project. It warned me that it will be deleted permanently. I agreed, because I thought that those were copies of my files. When I closed Eclipse I realized that I have no files on my desktop. I have a folder named "bin" which was created and its empty. My Trash is empty as well. Is there anything I can do? I would like to recover

PS. I have MacBook AIr. Updated it recently to Monterey.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.1

Restore your Desktop from your Time Machine backup

Restore your Mac from a backup - Apple Support

You would select Other files folder and then Select the Desktop folder.

If you do not have a backup then you are out of luck
