Apple iPod touch 4th generation

I have an old apple iPod touch running IOS 6.1.6 and I'm trying to upload songs to it the problem is that window 10/11 will not recognize the device it says this device has malfunctioned and is not recognized. I have tried everything I can if anyone has any suggestions please leave them below.

Windows, Windows 10
