cant connect to my imac with my ipad with bluetooth
When i try to pair my ipad air with my iMac it comes up as not supported?

Correct, that is expected behaviour. While there is a requirement to have Bluetooth activated on the iPad for certain functions associated with the Mac, Bluetooth pairing is not required.
