No, that should not be necessary. My watch arrived with the battery level at 80%, and the set up completed without noticeable change in the level. There is no need to charge the watch unless the battery level falls to 10%. In my experience using fast charging, it only takes 45-60 minutes to charge the battery from 50% to 100%. With that in mind, charge it when you don't need to wear it.
