Wrong date on downloaded shared album photos

Hi everyone,

When I download photos my wife has added to a shared album on my iPhone they have today’s date rather than the date taken. I can see the date taken in the shared album but it doesn’t download. When I download them on my Mac the date is preserved. Any ideas what’s going on?

Photo date is changed when adding to Shared Album I created a Shared Album with about 100 photos, dating back to 1983. I had them in their own album, in date order, then did select all and added to a shared album. One photo from 1987 had it's date changed to the date of moving the photos into the shared album and it now appears as the last photo in the album. I deleted all of the photos, then went back and added them one at a time (thanks for the extra available time Covid!)...same thing, date changed to date of transaction! I know shared albums will display the photos in the order added; but what could be happening with this particular photo?

Adding some photos to shared albums changes their date of creation. Why are some of the photos that I add to shared albums change their creation date to the date they were added? like for example, I add 500 photos from a trip a few weeks ago to a shared album, and then I see that the photos are kind of shuffled around in the shared album. So I sort by old to new, and some of the earliest photos and others end up at the bottom (newest) of the album and looking at their data shows they were taken today even if they were not. Even smaller loads of photos added at once ends up with this and it’s different photos that get this each time. Sometime it creates a random date for a photo, although this is rare this is getting very frustrating. This is is happening across multiple devices and different albums as I’ve tried, devices like a M1 Mac Air, iPhone 13ProMax, iPhone 12 and an iPhone X, and the web version of iCloud.

shared album photos out of order I created a shared album over 12 months ago, and just this morning have noticed that when viewing the photos at the web address (non-iPhone users) the photos are out of order. Photos taken and added a month ago are now at the top of the page and date stamped as being only a couple of days old. I add photos to the album on the day I take them, can anyone explain how this has happened? They are still in the correct order in the album on my phone.

That's expected. When you download the image you are creating a new file hence the new date. The date taken is still in the metadata on the photo.
